Private School and Homeschool Applicants

The application process is slightly different for this group of students because the families are responsible for asking the current school to send student information.

1. We need the latest nationally-normed scores (any score that indicates a national percentile ranking - NPR) to the Academy office by the second Friday in January. The most common tests are Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS) and Stanford Achievement Tests. If you do not have either of these, please call the office to discuss other options (678-331-3954).

2. Please tell your child's 8th grade math, science, and English teachers that they will receive an email directing them to complete teacher recommendations.

3. You are also responsible for having the school send 7th and 8th grade transcripts by the second Friday in January. This should include final grades for first semester of 8th grade. Please send them to:

4. If you wish for your student to "shadow" a current Magnet freshman, please call or email the Academy office to secure a spot. Shadow Day is scheduled for Wednesday, March 7, 2012 (the same day as our Open House for Accepted Students). 9:00 AM-2:00 PM.

5. If you accept the invitation to attend the Academy, you are responsible for registering as a new KMHS student at the Open House for accepted students on Thursday, March 29, 2012, and you must bring all required documentation referenced at http://kmhs.typepad.com/files/registration-information-sheet-6.pdf so that our counselors can complete the registration process. Failure to comply with this prerequisite may result in scheduling difficulties, so pay careful attention to the requirements.
