Fine Arts Concentration

The collaboration between the Academy of Math, Science & Technology and the Fine Arts Department at Kennesaw Mountain High School invites students interested in both academics and fine arts opportunities to explore their passions. Students in the Academy will be able to select a fine arts concentration and earn an additional diploma seal and honor graduation cord if they fulfill the following requirements:

Band Concentration

  • Student will participate in band classes at least 4 semesters
  • Student will participate in concerts even during the semesters they are not enrolled
  • Student will participate in Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) each year (in spring)
  • Student will try, whenever possible, to attend tutoring once a week with band director(s) to keep skill sets active during the semesters not enrolled in the classes.
  • Student will be enrolled spring semester whenever possible
  • Student will apply, by their junior year, for admission to Tri-M (National Music Honor Society)
  • Student will maintain 3.5 GPA in all band classes
 

Orchestra Concentration

  • Student will participate in orchestra classes at least 4 semesters
  • Student will participate in concerts even during the semesters they are not enrolled
  • Student will participate in Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) each year (in spring)
  • Student will try, whenever possible, to attend tutoring once a week with Mrs. Morrell to keep skill sets active during the semesters not enrolled in the classes.
  • Student will be enrolled spring semester if possible
  • Student will apply, by their junior year, for admission to Tri-M (National Music Honor Society)
  • Student will maintain 3.5 GPA in all orchestra classes

Theatre Concentration

Charlotte�s Web, 2009
  • Student will participate in a minimum of one theatre class each year: acting, technical theatre, or musical theatre
  • Student will be involved in auditioning, producing, and performing on one show each year (on stage or backstage).
  • Student will assist with house managing or another technical element with shows they are not involved with.
  • Student will maintain 3.5 GPA in all theatre classes

Art Concentration

  • Student will participate in a minimum of one art class per school year.
  • After Comprehensive Art, student will choose a concentration in one specific area of art.
  • Student will be involved in one art competition per year in art.
  • Student will build a digital portfolio of a minimum of 8 works (2 per year) in chosen concentration due prior to graduation.
  • Student will maintain 3.5 GPA in all art classes.

Chorus Concentration

  • Student will participate in chorus classes at least 4 semesters
  • Student will participate in concerts even during the semesters they are not enrolled
  • Student will participate in Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) each year (in spring)
  • Student will try, whenever possible, to attend tutoring once a week with Ms. Jacobson to keep skill sets active during the semesters not enrolled in the classes.
  • Student will be enrolled spring semester whenever possible
  • Student will maintain 3.5 GPA in all chorus classes
